Elder Cultural Specialist

Sealaska Heritage Institute and the Juneau School District are seeking Elder Cultural Specialists. The Elder Cultural Specialists will work with the classroom and language teachers to provide support for language and cultural activities. The Elder Cultural Specialists can work within the kindergarten through 8th grade based on the location, which is still to be determined. This program requires a time commitment of 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 37 weeks. This role constitutes a pay rate of $45-$50 an hour. (Apply)

SHI is seeking community liaisons in Angoon, Hoonah, Hydaburg, Juneau, Sitka and Yakutat for its Baby Raven Reads program, which is designed to improve kindergarten readiness and early literacy skills in Alaska Native children age birth to 5 years old. Raven Reads provides training to caregivers and early childhood educators in best practices in early literacy and cultural connections. Raven Reads provides family literacy activities and age-appropriate and culturally relevant books to participating families.
